Dolichogenidea azovica

General description:

The following are unpublished notes taken in  2010 by Jose Fernandez-Triana while studying 1 female specimen (paratype) from Russia, deposited in the Naturhistorisches Museum of Vienna, Austria.

The vannal lobe is clearly that of Dolichogenidea. Color black, except for palpi, tegula, wing base, all legs (except for coxae and trochanter which are black, and also basal half of meso and metafemora and meso and metatibia which are partially infuscated) yellow. Fore wing with stigma brown; most of veins transparent, except for r, 2R, RS. Mesoscutum appearance smooth though it has shallow punctures separated for a distance 1.0-1.5 x its diameter (except near the area anterior to the scutellar sulcus where it is fully smooth). Scutellar lunules triangular, about two thirds lateral face height. Scutellar sulcus relatively narrow (0.1 x scutellum length) and with ~12 carinae (some not well defined). Scutellum without posterior-medial band of rugosity; scutellum almost fully smooth with only a few very shallow and sparse punctures. Mesopleura and metapleura almost completely smooth (mesopleura with some very shallow and sparse punctures along the anterior margin). Propodeum mostly unsculptured and smooth, with spare and shallow punctures. Areola defined by a band of rugosity arising from the nucha and reaching up to half propodeum length. Tergite 1 laterally arched, with a basal depression, almost smooth (a few scattered and shallow punctures posterolaterally near apex) and with a polished knob centrally in the apical margin (not well defined because the rest of tergite is also more or less smooth), rectangular in shape, its length 1.9 x its width at apex. T2 transverse but rectangular in shape, almost completely smooth (a few, shallow, sparse puncture), apical width/basal width: 1.2 x. Tergite 3 1.6 x as long as T2, T3+ similarly sculptured as T2 (i.e., smooth with just very shallow and sparse punctures). Ovipositor sheaths 1.3 x metatibia length. Metatibial inner spur 1.2 x as long as outer one, and half the length of basal segment of metatarsus. Metafemur 3.2 x as long as wide.
