Host Data

This page presents information on the Lepidoptera species (moths and butterflies) whose caterpillars are parasitized by Microgastrinae wasps.

Microgastrines have been reared from most of the major lineages of Lepidoptera, with the exception of a few primitive families. There are hundreds of host records already available in the scientific literature. But we only know hosts for around 40% of the microgastrinae species. And even then, many of those records need to be verified for accuracy -some records are highly questionable, especially those that report non-Lepidoptera hosts (such as beetles or flies).

Below we present a list of families of Lepidoptera reported in the literature as hosts of Microgastrinae. In future posts we will be adding more information and discussing which records represent potentially wrong information.
