Dolichogenidea litae

General description:

The following are unpublished notes taken by Jose Fernandez-Triana in 2010 after studying two female and two female specimens (from Turkey and Greece) deposited in the Naturhistorisches Museum of Vienna, Austria.

It looks like some Nearctic specimens. Color black, except for palpi, tegula and most of the wing base which are yellow; all legs yellow except for all coxae, trochanter/trochantellus, base of femora, apex of metatibia and parts of the metatarsi which are black. Fore wing has basal half of stigma pale, rest brown; most of veins transparent. Mesoscutum appearance almost smooth, with very shallow punctures separated for a distance equal or more than its diameter. Scutellar lunules triangular, about 0.7x lateral face height. Scutellar sulcus very narrow (0.08x scutellum length) and with ~15 ridges, the central ones better defined than the lateral ones. Scutellum without posterior-medial band of rugosity; scutellum with very shallow and very sparse punctures, looking as almost completely smooth. Mesopleura and metapleura almost completely smooth (metapleura with some punctures in the apical half). Propodeum mostly unsculptured and smooth, with areola defined by a band of rugosity arising from the nucha and reaching almost to half of propodeum length. Tergite 1 laterally arched, with a basal depression, almost smooth (few punctures posterolaterally near apex), its length 1.3x its width at apex. T2 transverse, almost completely smooth (a few, shallow, sparse puncture), basal margin is straight, apical slightly convex (thus shape of tergite would be like many Apanteles/Dolichogenidea in the Neartic). Ovipositor sheats 0.8x metatibia length. Vannal lobe medially flat and without hairs. More study is needed about this species.
