Checklists of species

This page compiles different lists of Microgastrinae species from the world. It is mainly based on (and certainly reflects) our ongoing research on microgastrines. We are studying different regions/areas, and each is at different degrees of completeness. Initially, the data is limited to species lists, but we will add more details as work progresses. Lists are grouped by major biogeographical region (see left panel) and then, within each region, individual areas and/or localities are detailed as needed.

We consider here six major biogeographical regions or ecozones: Afrotropic (blue-gray color in figure below), Australasia (orange), Nearctic (green), Neotropic (purple), Oriental (light brown, this region is also called Indomalaya), and Palaearctic (red). The map is reproduced from Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Ecozones.svg), under the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 Unported License. For detailed explanations and limits between the biogeographical regions, see O’Hara et al. (2009: Annotated Catalogue of the Tachinidae (Insecta: Diptera) of China. Zootaxa 2190: 1-236), which is the standard we are follwing here.

If the reader is interested in knowing the species of Microgastrinae for a particular area not yet available in our site, we welcome messages to let us know about that -and we will try to post whatever information is known for that particular area as soon as possible. We are also interested in linking our pages to other sites with regional/local lists, and any other collaboration that might present in the future.

[This is a work in progress, and the lists included are shown only as examples being worked out at present (although the data is real and the information presented is updated as frequently as possible)].
